Creative Corner
Every child is gifted with a unique set of skills that can be channelled for the edification of the society they live in. Creative opportunities allow these dormant talents to rise to the surface. The right blend of creativity and curriculum can encourage the children to be more innovative and learn new things. Development of a ‘Creative Corner’ is imperative for imparting sound education for the following reasons –
- Perhaps the most important reason to include creative activities in the school curriculum is to induce lifelong learning in the child. A curious and creative mind is always eager to learn and it is this perpetual longing for learning that allows an individual to succeed in life
- Children are able to learn with fun. Taking part in storytelling and drama allows children to learn without the pressure that comes with learning
- Creative activities such as debate and puppetry allow kids to come out of their shells. Kids are free to express their truest selves in such environments
- When children spend time away from the pressure of academics to explore their hobbies, they experience reduced stress and anxiety. This, in turn, empowers them to perform well in academics too
- All individuals, by birth, possess imaginative thinking capabilities and creative activities such as art activate such capabilities by allowing children to explore and discover their potential
- Brainstorming activities such as puzzles develop problem-solving skills in children as they stretch their thinking and push their boundaries
- The average attention span of a lower-class kid is just a few minutes following which they get distracted. Allowing kids to take part in activities of their interest will improve their concentration levels significantly
